Trees Moon Press. Curated by Cora Sheibani, Mayfair, London 2014

Solo

Pop-up exhibition of handmade books, bas reliefs and works on paper with felt découpage by Kate Daudy curated by Cora Sheibani

Jeweller Cora Sheibani is also a renowned and courageous art collector. She curated this first show of work by Daudy at a pop-up space in Mayfair, London. Sheibani is a long-term supporter of Daudy’s work since she first saw it at the Marie-Victoire Poliakoff Gallery rue de Seine Paris in 2013.

The walls of the large Louisa Guinness Gallery space were papered from floor to ceiling with drawings and collages by Daudy. Published alongside the show was a catalogue set out by Assouline founding publisher and designer Sophie Henley-Price.

The works examined Daudy’s relationship with nature and were formed out of her diary in streams of consciousness not unlike the work of Stephane Mallarmé. Dr Severine Martin Hartenstein is preparing a scholarly essay on the relationship between Daudy’s work and that of poet Mallarmé, with whom many parallels and shared interests can be found.
