Commission from Parisian Perfume House MEMO
2025
Fragrance
Daudy has a longstanding interest in fragrance and jumped at the chance to create a new fragrance for the Parisian perfume house MEMO in 2025. The artist was put together with the great perfumer Alienor Massenet and they created a perfume based on Daudy's experience of walking back from her local flower shop on the Ladbroke Grove (The Flowered Corner, now closed) along the wet pavements of a rainy London morning. The perfume smells of roses, tarmac and rain.
The perfume was a limited edition and almost immediately sold out: https://uk.memoparis.com/products/portobello-road-eau-de-parfum?srsltid=AfmBOopusnmPzXJPNFbg4Sjc4zCN6jwcM013QPGmgp8W3w_TWmIbIdxu
Over the course of two years the artist and "nose" worked on the new fragrance. Alongside their making of the perfume for MEMO the pair embarked on a project of their own, supported by Columbia University and Symrise itself. The project became so interesting that the pair were invited to give a talk on the topic of their 3 new experimental fragrances which will be exhibited as art works in upcoming exhibitions of Daudys. These new perfumes represent states of transition from one state to another. The first is provisionally called "Purity of Intent" (working title) which represents the state of mind you are in when you have an idea and know you can create it in reality, the second is part of Daudy's project on incremental change "Telling The Bees": it is the energy of a landscape being alchemised into honey through the intervention of bees. The third is the energy of photosynthesis transforming water and light in to a tree/forest.
The talk at Columbia was filmed and can be seen here:

The perfume was launched at the Mayfair Sofitel at an event with talks, spectacular flowers and a special menu you can find attached, created for the purpose of this event and an ongoing promotional collaboration between the Memo brand and Sofitel for their clients.
