Solo show in Aspen Colorado 2015

2026

The artist installed work inside a space a-drift in a written intervention exploring her relationship with the beautiful nature in Aspen in contrast with the political situation in America at the time of Donald Trump announcing his candidacy for President of the United States.

The artist also made recordings of her interviews with Aspen locals talking about their relationship with the landscapes. Interviews included talking with the sherriff (who gave her a branded Aspen Police Force lip balm) and one of her collectors the man who helped made skiing fashionable in Aspen, Dick Durrance https://www.aspensojo.com/travel-and-outdoors/2021/12/75-years-skiing-aspen-mountain-celebrate.

Following the great success of her shows in NYC, this was the artist's second experience of travelling as an artist and the interest of locals and commercial success gave her confidence. The pom pom work was made using wool from a friend's lama and the pom poms for the pom pom sculpture inspired by David Hammons "Bliz-aard Ball Sale" 1983 and Not Vital's snowballs https://patersonzevi.com/exhibitions/projects/28/700-snowballs/ were made with the artist's aged friend Elena in her bed up in Golder's Green. Durrance liked the pompoms as his first clothing brand for Aspen featured woollen hats with pompoms on the top, but they were made as part of Daudy's ongoing interest in repetitive menial work as representing the role of women in the family, as well as the symbolism of freely given affection when someone puts effort and thought into some humble childhood plaything such as a pompom or a cut out piece of felt.
